Energy transition in France – winds of change with Nicolas Hulot
The French government of President Emmanuel Macron is committed to the Paris climate agreement and seeking a leading role in international climate policy. Like Germany, however, France has so far met its climate targets only in part. The responsible minister, Nicolas Hulot, presented his 'Plan Climat’ in July 2017. France continues to set itself ambitious climate targets that will impact areas such as the phasing out of coal, the use of nuclear energy and the end of the combustion engine.
