KfW receives new shares in the course of Deutsche Telekom AG’s scrip dividend

Upon exercise of rights to have this year’s dividend paid out in the form of shares, KfW’s ownership interest in Deutsche Telekom AG rises to approximately 774.9 million ordinary registered shares of Deutsche Telekom AG (prior to exercising subscription rights: 735.7 million). The stake of Deutsche Telekom AG held by KfW and the Federal Republic of Germany in conjunction of approximately 31.9% (previously: 32.0%) remains almost unchanged.

Pursuant to a special mandate by the Federal Government of Germany, KfW held a stake of approximately 17.0 % in Deutsche Telekom AG. On 16 May 2013, the shareholders’ meeting of Deutsche Telekom AG resolved to pay out a dividend of EUR 0.70 per share for 2012. For the first time, shareholders were able to choose whether to have the dividend paid out in cash or in the form of shares.

Based on the subscription ratio of 12.5 : 1, which was deemed to be a worthwhile offer by the Federal Government of Germany and KfW, KfW will receive new shares from the scrip dividend. Due to the increase in capital of Deutsche Telekom AG, KfW’s stake in Deutsche Telekom AG will increase to approximately 17.4 % (previously: 17.0 %), while the stake of the Federal Republic of Germany is expected to decline to approximately 14.5 % (previously: 15.0 %).
