Local currency bond markets as an integral part of a developed financial system

A functioning financial system promotes economic development. This includes a local currency bond market that offers long-term local currency funding for the public and corporate sector, in particular, while providing investment opportunities for institutional and private investors. From capacity building to support for individual transactions, financial cooperation measures in emerging and developing countries must take into account the specific development level of the country’s financial system. After all, excessively rapid development can also overwhelm financial institutions and regulators.
