The EU’s largest National Promotional Banks and Institutions and the European Investment Bank met last Friday in Berlin to discuss recent initiatives and common challenges in Europe.

The five European national promotional banks & institutions BGK, CDC, CDP, ICO, KfW and the European Investment Bank (EIB) discussed in Berlin the progress of existing joint initiatives like the Joint Initiative on Circular Economy (JICE), Quick Response - Care for Ukrainian Refugees in Europe, and Marguerite Fund and exchanged on the various national and European initiatives to support the energy sovereignty in Europe.
For the Quick Response - Care for Ukrainian Refugees in Europe (CARE) launched in spring this year in Paris, already EUR 2.9 bn of the original EUR 2 bn financing target has been reached.
Concerning the Joint Initiative on Circular Economy (JICE) launched in Luxembourg in 2019, the partners reported a total volume of financed projects and programs of EUR 6.3 bn until end of 2021. The initiative supports circular economy projects and programs in the European Union (EU) and has a total target volume of EUR 10bn until 2023.
The five national promotional banks & institutions are:
- Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (BGK - Poland)
- Groupe Caisse des Dépôts (CDC – France)
- Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP - Italy)
- Instituto de Crédito Oficial (ICO - Spain)
- Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW - Germany)
