The first TUMO Centre to promote digital education in Hesse is ready to start

The first TUMO learning centre for digital education is to be set up in Frankfurt in Hesse, Germany, followed by other centres throughout the federal state. The Hessian Minister for Digital Strategy and Innovation, Prof. Dr Kristina Sinemus, Hessian State Secretary for Cultural Affairs, Dr Manuel Lösel, Member of the Executive Board of Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW), Katharina Herrmann, and the Chair of the Board of Managing Directors of Wirtschafts- und Infrastrukturbank Hessen (WIBank), Gottfried Milde, launched the centre together.

As an educational project, TUMO centres create a voluntary offer for young people between the ages of 12 and 18 that aims to improve digital skills outside of schools and promote creativity.

The first learning centre initiated by KfW was opened in Berlin; Frankfurt is now the first location in Hesse.

“Digital education is a matter close to my heart. The TUMO Centre in Berlin has demonstrated that this educational concept can be successfully implemented in Germany,”

said Katharina Herrmann, Member of the Executive Board of KfW.

“I am all the more pleased with the state of Hesse’s impressive commitment and the first step at the Frankfurt site, which we are glad to enthusiastically support.”

The concept is supported at the technical and educational levels by the Hessian Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs. The aim is to introduce pupils to digital skills and thus counteract the shortage of skilled workers, fostering the innovative strength within the state.
