KfW Board of Supervisory Directors extends Executive Board member Bernd Loewen's contract
The KfW Supervisory Board has once again appointed Bernd Loewen as a member of the Executive Board of KfW. As part of the long-term succession planning, Loewen agreed on a contract term of three years until 30 June 2027 with the Board of Supervisory Directors. The news was announced by the Chair of the KfW Board of Supervisory Directors, Federal Minister of Finance Christian Lindner, and the Deputy Chair and Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action Dr Robert Habeck, following the meeting of the KfW Board of Supervisory Directors on 6 December 2023. The basic decision to extend the contract had already been made on 26 June 2023, with this latest decision formalising the appointment.
Loewen, 58, was first appointed to the KfW Group Executive Board on 1 July 2009. He is responsible for accounting as well as the Organisation and HR departments within the group, among other things. In the coming years, his activities will focus in particular on employer positioning and sustainability reporting.
In recent years, Loewen has driven and supported important projects and initiatives, most recently the reorganisation of the company-wide planning and management process, the agile alignment of IT software development and the introduction of flexible and mobile working ("New Work"), among other things.
