Export is the backbone of German and European industry’s macroeconomic growth. With its tailored financing for key sectors, structuring specialist KfW IPEX-Bank uses export-promotion tools such as Hermes coverage and other export credit agency (“ECA”) guarantees. A sufficient supply of raw materials to industry must be ensured to realise this global market potential. Due to the lack of certain resources, KfW IPEX-Bank finances projects around the world that facilitate German and European commodities imports. Only in this way can local industry produce goods whose high quality means they can also be sold worldwide. As a specialist financier, KfW IPEX-Bank also contributes complex instruments such as coverage under the untied loan guarantee scheme of the Federal government (“UFK”) to funding; and it supports major commodity transactions by providing commodity finance, a form of interim financing.
